Forbidden rice 300 grams

The secret of the intriguing nomenclature goes back to Ancient Jaffna (northern Sri Lanka), where these unusually large grains were consumed by a host of kinsmen for betterment of Libido, strength, Stamina,  kidneys  and liver until the royal house of King Jeyaveera Cinkaiariyan (செயவீர சிங்கையாரியன்: 1380 – 1410) took possession of every grain and withheld it from public consumption. The rice then became a property for the royalty and the wealthy ,during which time it  earned its much renowned label – the forbidden rice.
It was continued to be cultivated  for the elite classes, in limited quantities  under strict surveillance and to this day the rice is cultivated only in Jaffna .
